Inside Ebonyi Mall |
This article covers my experience in the fastest growing city in Nigeria people never talk about, he beautiful city of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
This beautiful city lies in the intersection between Enugu, Afikpo and Ogoja Roads that's the neighboring Cross River State.
The inhabitants of this fastest growing city are typical Igbo NATION.
This beautiful state have subgroups of the Igbo race which includes Ikwo, Ezza, Izzi and lots more; these subgroups are identified through their respective dialects.
Following few days back, Abakaliki is one of those cities you will never want to even pass through not to talk of you passing a night in this city as many will call it Dust of the Nation instead of it's Slogan "Salt of the Nation"
This state is a home to a Federal Collège of Education situated in the heart of Ikwo L.G.A of the State, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ikwo (FUNAI) and Ebonyi State University (EBSU) stationary in the heart of the beautiful city of Abakaliki.
Years after years the government continue to work on many Infrastructure and amenities just like Roads and good Schools.
Today Ebonyi state have the best road network in Nigeria with about 89% of the road constructed with Concrete. This alone has made it the fastest growing city in Nigeria
This State grew to an international awareness within six years making it the fastest growing state in Nigeria.
Abakaliki is known to be the state with the highest numbers of fly over in Nigeria after Abuja and Lagos.
My Visit to Ebonyi
Visiting Ebonyi will always be an interesting experience for a lot of visitors, it will amaze you to know that Ebonyi is one of the last state that was created by Gen. Sani Abacha.
This state have a lot of Tourist Attraction which include:
Okposi Salt Lake:
The lake is located almost two hours from Abakaliki, in Ohaozara Local Government of the state.
Its water level is low during the rains and rise in the dry season. Only scaled fishes thrive in it. For 400 years, it has been the source of salt for the indigenes of the area.

But this was not not covered in my visit to the state; as I only focused on the fastest growing city being it's state capital.
I arrived the state at about 3pm, this allowed ma friend to pick me up from the station and took me to a nearby Adig Suit Hotels, I had to time to rest from the long journey at the bar section and in the noon of the next day, it was a Saturday already and the roads were very free as for a typical city in Nigeria will always be on Saturdays.
We drove nearly half the city while I try capturing some places I found interesting and Unique.
It was a wow when we finally went to the Ebonyi State Shopping Mall.
It will amaze you to know that Ebonyi Mall is the Biggest Mall in Nigeria ever owned by a government😍.
